The AIG Bailout

My Republican friends tag Clinton and Obama as 'socialist' or 'tax and spend liberals'. They are opposed to nationalized insurance of any kind.

Last night, the Republican administration bought 80% of AIG, bailing them out from a catastrophic failure. They did this with a loan to AIG from taxpayer funds that will be repaid at an incredible 11% interest. AIG will NEVER dig out from under this. EVER.

They also ordered the firing of the CEO.

So, the Republican administration just nationalized AIG and then mandated leadership changes.

Unless you've had your head in a bucket of water for the last 8 years, you can clearly see the hypocrisy. To Bush Republicans, it's not OK to nationalize a company or service to help out the nation or the nation's middle class. It IS ok, though, to do it to rescue the assets and the investors.

Don't get me wrong - I totally agree with what the feds did. If they didn't, the economy would've crashed - AIG influences almost every aspect of the national economy.

But it's time to stop resorting to easy, lazy sound bites and start acting like intelligent people. We are in the worst financial crisis since 1929. Stop being slaves to rhetoric.

Sarah Palin: Creationist, Pro-Life VP Candidate

It's been a while, but I had to post this:

Sarah Palin is McCain's VP. Also a creationist.

If you are a Democrat and vote for McCain because you somehow don't like Obama, you are a moron.

Rat King Sighting Causes Panic on NY Subway

NEW YORK, JUNE 3rd, 2008: Horrified commuters fled a New York subway today after seeing an enormous 'rat king'.

Rat kings occur when several rats become intertwined at the tail. Their tails then grow together. were once thought to be fiction. Since then, numerous specimens have been found.

"It was the most revolting thing I've ever seen," Franklin Snyder, a Manhattan commuter, commented.

Several New Yorkers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor scrapes and bruises and released. No injuries were reported from the Cryptid itself.

NYPD shot and disposed of the rat king, reported to contain more than 75 rodents.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg tried to calm an uneasy populace.

"I know that rat kings were once omens of disease and disaster," said Bloomberg, "but we live in a different time. New York is doing just fine."

NYPD and New York MTA staff could not be reached for comment.

And yes, this is total fiction

Be Afraid...

Utah students carry guns to class.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, except to say I'm glad I live in Washington.

Nothing against guns, but these folks made Karl Malone their hero for years. Can we trust them with loaded firearms?
