People are Stupid

Why do people insist on being crooks? This client of mine, Survival Inc, has just disappeared from the face of the earth. They owe us over $10k. Their phone number now returns a fast busy signal. Their e-mails bounce. We shut down their site (as you can see).

In the mean time, their owner retained a lobbying firm for $10,000/month, per an article on Salon.com:

Begin with David Keene, ACU's chairman and an icon of the conservative movement, who lobbies for pork on behalf of nearly a dozen clients at the Carmen Group, one of Washington's premier advocacy law firms. One client, Survival Inc., retains Keene's services for $10,000 a month. In exchange, Keene has helped the company get $2.4 million in earmarks since 2004, money that was used to buy Survival Inc. decontamination gear to respond to a possible chemical, biological or nuclear attack.

OK, shame on me for not researching them more carefully in February. Then I would've known they were involved in a scandal, and I would've run screaming.

But, rather than wallow, I'll just be happy that I'm still in business, they're not, and hopefully some sort of corporate Karma will insure they never are again, either...
